Discovering Lauge and Baba Gnohm

Lauge & Baba Gnohm are my recent Revelation of the chill-out scene.

I really want to thank (and hugh!) Henrik for sending his mail for airplay submission.

Yesterday, I told you that I was blogging back after a break.

I found a mail that caught my interest 🙂 and started to listen to the tunes of Lauge & Baba Gnohm.

coverI began the journey with “Monolith” an EP produced by Lauge & Baba Gnohm and remastered by HubySea.

4 tracks released on November 12th, 2011.

1-Leaving The Cave
2-Structures
3-Verdens Største Satellit
4-Beyond The Peak

And it was amazing…

I loved it! You know… when sometimes in your life, your body is touched by the charm of the music. You hear one musical note, then a second and you realize that you are listening to Music!

It was yesterday night.

The very first reaction was to email back to Henrik to tell him that I’ll promote their band Lauge & Baba Gnohm on Psychedelik.com.

Then, I Skyped DJ Yuman to tell him that we received ambient music submission. I haven’t had the chance to talk to my friend Yuman since october 2012 when I sent him the new Kick Bong mix, an excellent french chill music producer, friend and supporter of the webradio from almost the beginning. I told you that I was off the hook 😐 Flight, back home, pack your stuff, flight, back home, pack your stuff, family.. of course.. I love my life but commute from my home town of Brest and Paris (600km) to work was taking all the time that you want to share with your friends.. I told Yuman that he should listen to the music quickly. I’ll tell you what he thought later in this post.

Time has come to switch to the 2nd promo received. It’s an EP called “Daybreak”… nice.

Lauge & Baba Gnohm - Ddaybreak

This EP was released on Janaury 1st, 2009.

3 tracks

1-Memories
2-Southern Hemisphere
3-Lauge & Baba Gnohm feat. Mikkel Govertz – Daybreak

These tracks were recorded 2 years before “Monolith” and you can feel how it has started.

Southern Hemisphere uses vocals and guitars that make me feel on a beach, far away from home, relaxing.

Daybreak shows that nice guitar’s riffs can bring an other dimension to ambient music.

Back in 2009, their music was more electronica and it’s now time to share their biography before the next trip called “Langbortistan”, their album released in 2011 which leads us into the deep and warm psychedelic chill out tunes.

Biography of Lauge & Baba Gnohm

Lauge_and_Baba_Gnohm-Live_Dreaming_Awakening_Ukraina-2011

The duo Lauge & Baba Gnohm consists of Henrik Laugesen and Kalle Christensen, both born in 1985 in Denmark.

They first met in 2008 in Christiania.

After a successful day in the studio, they decided to put their previous solo projects on hold, and team up.

Lauge & Baba Gnohm was formed in the late winter of 2008, and that wintery feeling which was present in their first tracks, still leave traces in their more recent soundscapes. Henrik and Kalle are heavily inspired by nature, especially the arctic parts of the world. Till now Lauge & Baba Gnohm have had many releases on various labels around the globe, as well as being part of a sync company dealing with soundtracks for movies and documentaries.

The very first Lauge & Baba Gnohm collaboration release was The Perfect Stranger which was released on the German record label
Blue Tunes Records.

Along with releases on different compilations, Lauge & Baba Gnohm have released two EPs: “Daybreak”, on Soundmute, and
“Monolith”, on Chillbase and the full length album “Langbortistan” on Altar Records.

We’re now really happy to welcome them on the ambient stream of Psychedelik.com.

Langbortistan

LangbortistanAfter the EPs came the album “Langbortistan” in 2011.

7 tracks released on october 15th, 2011
1-Langbortistan
2-Dybet
3-H2O
4-Refleksioner
5-Nordlys
6-Hypnose
7-Rejsen

Langbortistan is the name of the album and also starts this fantastic journey into the universe of these two Danish producers who will become one of the most wanted duo for the festivals in 2013. Chilling out with them after a wonderful and energizing trip on the dancefloor must be some kind of an experience =)

I’ve checked their Facebook and didn’t see much bookings last summer. Unbelievable.

I assume that the organizers were just like me.. they didn’t know that Lauge & Baba Gnohm released the masterpiece “Langbortistan”… how else could it be?

Yuman had the same feelings about this album.. (For those who joined us lately, Yuman is taking care of the ambient stream.)

It’s always hard to describe what you feel. I won’t talk about technical skills, the use of 303.. even if I would love to meet them at their studios.

It’s not about that… I just want to invite all of you to listen… Listen and feel…

Feel the atmosphere of Northern Europe… Danemark is a key country in the musical psychedelic scene, isn’t it?

Anyway, we’re about to close the year 2012 and we’re glad and happy to present Lauge & Baba Gnohm on Psychedelik.com.

They didn’t wait for us to produce jewels and it was a pleasure to look on their social network and to write this blog note about them.

Now, it’s your turn to enjoy and as I like to say…

… discover the tunes on the stream of Psychedelik.com

… get the albums or EPs

… enjoy the Live shows at parties

… share with your friends

More will come soon…
